Marsh Keene were appointed by the client, a young developer, to reconfigure and extend this lower ground floor flat within the Canonbury Conservation Area. The existing building is a grand row of four storey terraced houses, built in the mid 19th Century, and subsequently subdivided into flats.

The current one bedroom flat had been previously extended with a single storey wrap around extension containing a small galley kitchen and bathroom. The flat was dark, with an over sized master bedroom and very little connection to the large South facing garden.

Our proposal reconfigured the internal spaces to add a second bedroom and bathroom, whilst partially demolishing the existing extension, replacing it with a new extension to create an open plan kitchen, living & dining space. The new addition is constructed from light grey waterstruck brickwork, both internally and externally, clearly defining it as a new addition to the original building.

The scheme received planning permission from Islington Council in December 2017, and was completed on site in July 2018.
